Requirements for the R Conference
- The Conference is organized exclusively to project the R software as the software of choice for database management, data visualization and data mining and data science in Ghana.
- The webpage of the group, provides information on what the Community does and with R.
- The conference is to be held in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi – Ghana from June 6 – 7, 2024.
- To finance the conference, individual attendees will raise money to get their accommodation, they will pay for their own meals and travel and transport. Ghana R is soliciting funds to co-finance other activities.
- A list of sponsors will be provided as funds are received. Prospective sponsor: NIHR Global Surgery Unit, Ghana Data Hub.
- Experts in R would be invited to submit abstracts on talks based on the theme of the Conference. Notable keynote speakers are: Kevin O'Brien (Ireland), Prof Friedrich Leisch (Austria/Germany), Dr Riinus Pius (Scotland), Prof Justice M K Aheto (University of Ghana, Accra), Dr Paul A Agbodza (Ghana R), Dr Johannes Klotz (Austria), Francis Mensah (Ghana), Samuel Tandoh (Ghana).
- Travel and housing for Keynote speakers travelling to Kumasi would be arranged by Ghana R.

- NHIR, Global Surgery Ghana Data Hub is getting funding from NIHR Global Surgery Unit (NIHR-GSU). NIHR-GSU is providing funds for Day 2, hence not included in the current budget.
Ghana R Users come from all regions of Ghana. The Ghana R Conference 2024 will be held in Kumasi (in red).

- Advanced users would have the confidence to start mining big data on Ghana in all areas of specialisation using R.

Venue for Conference, Hall, Overtime charges, Deposit against breakages, Generator, Furniture rental, Equipment Rentals, Decoration, Refreshment/Meals, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks, Keynote Presenters, Presenters Travel, Accommodation for Presenters, Web adverts, Organizational, Deposit against breakages.
Estimated total amount required for limited financing by Conference Organizers: $1,689.92.
Registration and Fees
Participants will pay for their travel, accommodation and food and so there will be no additional fees to pay. Cost is estimated at GH¢1,660.00 [US$145.72].
Name tags will be paid for by members.
These payments and costs will lead to a reduction in the number of participants.
