The Ghana R Users Community hosted another Masterclass Meetup on Saturday, 12 September 2026, bringing together R users, data professionals, researchers, students, and enthusiasts for an engaging session on the growing role of R in the age of artificial intelligence.
The session, titled “The Power of R in the Age of AI: Combining Statistical Computing with Machine Learning,” featured Sathwika Reddy, Data and AI Professional, as the speaker.

Combining R with Machine Learning and AI
Sathwika shared practical perspectives on how statistical computing and machine learning can work together, highlighting the continued relevance of R as data science continues to evolve.
The session explored the relationship between traditional statistical methods, data analysis, predictive modelling, machine learning, and newer developments in artificial intelligence.
A key part of the discussion was the way R can continue to fit into modern data science workflows. Rather than treating AI and statistical computing as separate worlds, the session looked at how the strengths of both can be brought together when working with data.
With its strong foundation in statistics, data visualisation, modelling, and research, R remains an important tool for understanding data and developing data-driven solutions.
